The Cabo de Santo Agostinho unit, in Pernambuco State, covers 33,000 m2 and employs 134 people. Annual production is over 100,000 tons a year. By 2013, production capacity at the Cabo plant will have been expanded by 30%.

This multipurpose plant is the only one in Latin America to produce high-cis polybutadiene, the synthetic rubber used in the production of ecologically friendly green tires. In addition, low-cis polybutadiene and styrene-butadiene-rubber are produced there, used, respectively, in the tire and shoe industries, among others. Over 85% of its production supplies the Brazilian market, in a clear commitment from LANXESS to the domestic market. The remainder is exported, mainly to Latin and North America.
